About the event
Learn how to transition from the hot summer (pitta) season into the Fall/Winter (vata) season with food, yoga, breathing (Pranayama) and daily lifestyle practices that are in sync with nature's rhythm. This workshop will discuss Ayurveda's system of balancing the doshas, living in sync with nature and the change of seasons to help you create a more balanced mind, body and spirit. You will learn why it is important to adapt with the seasons, what foods to eat (and avoid), what yoga and breathing practices are beneficial during the fall/winter, and daily practices that will help you stay balanced and nourished during the colder months. You will also learn about kitchari, a recipe consisting of rice, beans and spices that assist in Ayurvedic cleansing/detoxification. Kitchari is extremely nourishing and helps to reboot and rebalance your body's system. You will enjoy a sample yoga and breathing practice for the winter and be able to try a taste of Kitchari if you would like! You will also take home a packet of ingredients to make your own kitchari at home!
Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga. It is one of the world's oldest holistic healing systems and was developed more than 3,000 years ago in India. It's based on the belief that health and wellness relies on a delicate balance within the mind, body, and spirit.
